Effects of domestication in poultry


The changes in a species which occurred during and after domestication have been examined by many Archaeologist are expressed into 2 groups:
A) Physiological changes:
a.     Body weight gain
b.     Increased body size
c.      Increased bone length
d.     Accumulation of coat color variation
e.    Changes in skin covering, muscling, fat deposition and brain size
f.         Increased variation and purpose
B)  Behavioral changes:  
a.   Changes in food habit
b.  Able to reproduce in captivity and decreased the dependent on specific climate and environment
c.    Ability to imprint which was important in initial taming
                                      change in social order that permitted keeping together of     large no. of individual
